WORLD IGBO CONGRESS TAKES POST UN-CSW59 TO MASSACHUSETTS

Background:
With the global mission of World Igbo Congress on women and family, Women and Family Affairs Committee (WFAC) is holding a global Women’s Summit on Better Woman Better Family Post UNCSW59 Session to bring to the community the resolution and outcome from the concluded United Nations Commission on Status of Women 59 Session.
The Summit will again bring attention of Igbo Stakeholders, Board of Directors of World Igbo Congress, Igbo leaders , Government of the Seven Igbo Speaking States to the current global agen-da and concerns of the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality on “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality” a new UN Women initiative urging governments to make national commitments to ensure women and girls can reach their full potential by 2030.
World Igbo Congress will make a clarion call to Igbo men and boys on “Nwokem iso kwa” to join the global campaign of United Nations HEFORSHE Campaign in bringing Igbo men and boys to the global call to end gender inequality and violence against women and girls.
Women and Family Affairs Committee will through the BWBF Post CSW59 Summit flag off the Campaign on WIC Million Igbo Women Global Campaign, a platform initiatives to bring Igbo Women together to rend their voice on the issues concerning women across the world.
World Igbo Congress will join the United Nations Community and other Civil Society across the world to mark the 2015 United Nations Day for Widows. Through WFAC BWBF WIDOW-CARE and UNSUNG WIDOWER project, the summit will be honor widows and widowers to mark the 2015 Widows day.
The Significance of the summit is to reach out to women and girls in diverse ethnic group to a discussion on the common concerns on women and girls. World Igbo Congress will welcome the Move to Bring Home Igbo Daughters and Sons of the Trans-Atlantic Voyage in their commitment to the Decade of People of African Descent.

Reaching out to men and boys in the Community on the UNCSW59 Outcome, HEFORSHE UN-Women Campaign and WIC Clarion Call on “NWOKEM iso Kwa”. WFAC will provide education on the work and projects of WFAC to the Community.
