We join the good people of the world in condemning, in unequivocal language and tone, the despicable and criminal act perpetrated by Boko Haram in kidnapping over 200 girls from their school in Chibok, Northern Nigeria. What those girls have gone through and continue to endure in more than a month in captivity is hard to imagine, talk less of comprehending. It is our ardent wish and prayer that they are recovered soon and reunited with their families for the arduous task of repairing the damage this episode would have done to their psyches.

The president-General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Gary Enwo Igariwey, has sent a congratulatory message to the World Igbo Congress and all Diaspora Igbo on the launching of the new website of WIC. He used the opportunity to express his satisfaction and that of Ohanaeze with WIC in bringing the awareness of the happenings in the home land to our people in the Diaspora. He said that although Ndi Igbo have individually achieved enviable heights they are yet to harness these successes for the collective good of our people. He indicated that this is the driving force of the thoughts of his administration as it strives to make Igbo land better. He called on all Diaspora Igbo to work towards a common goal for our people.
World Igbo Congress is charting a bold path, through building a Regional Health Center of Excellence to fulfill this long yearning and aspiration of our people. The origin, anthropology and ethnography of Ndi-Igbo, though fairly documented, is largely speculative, including suggestions of Igbo Jewish heritage (as one of the lost Jewish tribes or descendants) based on the industry and cultural orientation of Ndi-Igbo. A giant of American diplomacy, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, once described Ndi-Igbo as “the wandering Jews of West Africa …. gifted, aggressive, Westernized; at best envied and resented, but mostly despised by the mass of their neighbors in the Federation.” Henry Kissinger, Memorandum For The President, Tuesday, January 28, 1969 [Foreign Relations, 1969-1976, Volume E-5, Documents on Africa, 1969-1972].

With the less that optimal performance of health care system in Nigeria leading to unnecessary deaths and loss of wealth in Igbo land due to medical tourism, World Igbo Congress has rallied the Igbo wealth of health care professionals in the Diaspora to introduce a new hospital concept focused on telemedicine built on outpatient services while maintaining critical emergency and acute care services. This model is unique because of the availability of world-class physicians abroad and locally who will provide an array of specialty services not otherwise available locally.
