CONVENTION 2015 DETROIT, MICHIGAN

About World Igbo Congress and the Convention[spacer height=”20px”]
World Igbo Congress is the apex Igbo organization in the Diaspora. In 1994, this organization was established in Houston, Texas as an organ for the unity, dignity and welfare of the Igbo who at that time were and still are smacking from the impact of the Nigerian civil war. It was also established as an organ for the expression of the right of the Igbo to fair treatment of the Igbo in the committee of ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. World Igbo Congress will be hosted by the Igbo Community Association of Michigan (ICAM) Detroit which is already in a frenzy to ensure that the convention will be a memorable one and also a platform for getting the attention of all Diaspora Igbo as well as all friends of the Igbo. Our members are community organizers, health and economic development practitioners from affiliates in most US metropolises and elsewhere. World Igbo Congress works in tandem with Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo to ensure that the interests of the Igbo are protected.

A Sustainable Development Agenda [spacer height=”20px”]
The Convention will deal with the challenges of unity and strength as well as the fallouts from the recently held Nigerian National elections in respect of the future of the Igbo. Other key challenges include progress in the implementation of main targets recommended by the 2012 through 2014 convention proposals on strategic and sustainable development of Igbo land as well as empowerment of its people in the Diaspora. The theme is “K’anyi jikọta maka ọdinma na oganiru ndi Igbo” (Let us Unite for the good and progress the Igbo) [spacer height=”20px”]
